Which format should you pick?
MP3 when you want a small file that plays everywhere — phone, car, messaging apps. WAV is uncompressed and keeps the original quality, but the file is several times larger; it's for editing and studio work, not for sending.
Choosing a bitrate
192 kbps is the balance point for music. For spoken audio — podcasts, meetings, voice memos — 128 kbps sounds the same and halves the size. 320 kbps only makes sense when the source file is genuinely high quality to begin with.
Compression is one-way
If the source is already a low-bitrate MP3, converting it to 320 kbps or to WAV won't restore quality — it just makes the file bigger. Information discarded during compression doesn't come back.
Trimming
Set a start and end time to keep just one section. Handy for making a ringtone or pulling a single passage out of a long recording.

Is my file uploaded?
No. Decoding and encoding both use your browser’s own audio engine and the file never leaves your device.
Is there a file size limit?
No fixed limit, but the whole file is decoded into memory, so very long recordings may be slow or run out of memory on weaker devices.
Does converting to WAV improve quality?
No. WAV avoids further compression but cannot recreate quality that was already lost. You just get a larger file.
Can I extract audio from a video?
This tool takes audio files. To pull the audio track out of your own video, use a video editor first.
