What "exact age" means
Age is usually worked out by subtracting years, but that can be off by up to a year. Exact age means the number of complete years, months and days since your birth — the figure that matters on official forms, in age-limit rules and on insurance paperwork.
Days lived
The total comes from the real difference between the two dates, so leap years are already accounted for. Multiplying years by 365 gives you a number that is several days out.
Born on 29 February
In non-leap years the birthday is treated as 28 February for the countdown, which is the common convention in most jurisdictions.

Yes. The day count comes from the actual difference between the two dates rather than an approximation, so leap days are included automatically.
Is my date of birth stored?
No. The calculation runs in your browser and the date is never sent or saved anywhere.
What if I was born on 29 February?
The date is valid and calculates correctly. For the next-birthday countdown in non-leap years, 28 February is used.
Can I calculate age at a past date?
This version calculates age as of today. For a date in the past, subtract the difference from the total shown.
